Artificial Heart to Be Created

Scientists from three research institutions of Ural Region are involved in the joint project with German colleagues, aimed at creating artificial heart. First stage of the project is developing an accurate model of a heart for studying its activity and pathologies. The model needs mathematicians, since heart muscle fibers only seem to have no order in structure. Researchers have been working on a model, which is a retractive model of one or two heart muscle cells, for less than a year. Project’s super-task is creating an artificial heart.
