Mstislav Zapashny Removed from his Position as Head of Russian State Circus

On December 25, 2009 Mstislav Zapashny was removed from his position as the head of the Russian State Circus due to financial violations. According to directors of the leading Russian circuses, the activities of Mstislav Zapashny as the head of the Russian State Circus have thrown the development of the Russian circus art to dozens of years back. The entire system of the Russian State Circus has turned obsolete and needs to be reformed. From 2003 Mstislav Zapashny (1938) - a representative of one of the oldest circus dynasties – was the head of the Russian State Circus that is the country’s major body for managing circuses and distributing state budgets among them.
