Militiamen in the Rostov Region have returned to an orthodox church 12 icons, which were stolen on the New Year’s Eve. Two suspects were detained. The icons stolen from the St. Martyr Parasceva Church in Manychskaya Settlement date back to the 17-18th cc. Their price amounts to 200 million rubles on the black market. One of the detained suspects was on the federal wanted list, and another one is suspected of being earlier accessorial in similar crimes. Both suspects are not local residents of the Rostov Region. The local archpriest Oleg Dombinsky expressed gratitude to the law enforcement officers for solving the crime within a short time and “curing the wound incurred to the parish by those who committed the crime”.
