First Graffiti Festival to be Held in Russia

The graffiti festival Stenograffiya will kick off in Yekaterinburg on May, 27th and will last till June, 7th.

The artists will be officially permitted to ornament walls of buildings, crosswalks, walls of factories and other objects in the city.

One of the well-known graffiti masters from Omsk is expected to give a master class on the roof a city cinema. The festival program also includes exhibitions, movie screenings, and music concerts.

The main contest of the festival is united by the topic “Europe-Asia” - on different approaches to decoration of walls by artists of the two continents - and will be held on June, 4-5th. 20 street surfaces will turn into art objects. The youth holiday will finish in the Yekaterinburg Central Amusement Park, where representatives of the Ural hip-hop community and graffiti rappers will perform. Following the results of the festival it is planned to publish a special album of the artists’ best reproductions.
