Interactive Exhibition of Unusual Pictures Open in Moscow

The Tretyakov Gallery at Krymsky Val opens the exhibition Mirrors in Russian Art of the 18th - 20th Centuries. The curators have gathered together paintings, which have mirror reflections of people or objects depicted in them. The mirror in Russian painting for a long time remained just a detail of the interior. It was probably due to the superstition that considered looking into a mirror sinful - that belief lasted till the 17th century. The exhibition displays around 100 works of art from the funds of the Tretyakov Gallery and artists’ studios. The exhibition runs till February 21, 2010.
