Russian Archeological Expedition unearthed unique stone age sites at Socotra Island, Yemen, located 200 kilometres eastwards from Africa. Unearthed archeological monuments belong to so-called Oldowan period, which is an industrial complex of stone tools used by prehistoric hominins of the Lower Paleolithic – 2.5-1.4 million years ago. Numerous findings – mainly silicon tools – allowed making some sensational conclusions about occupation of the island and active exploitation of its resources by ancient human beings during menti0oned period of time.
