Scandal Unfolds about Mosque Put Up for Auction in Russia

For the first time in the history of Russia a mosque was brought under the hammer. The biggest Muslim mosque of the Nizhni Novgorod Region was put up for auction. The businessman Faiz Gilmanov built a mosque in his native settlement Medyana. The mosque is the biggest one in the region, while the region itself is one of the foremost Islamic centres of Russia. Surprisingly, nobody was there to buy the minarets at 628 million rubles. Most probably the building will become the municipal property. Apart from the mosque, the entrepreneur built a cultural centre, a café and a clinic in his native village. They are also put up for auction
