Sergei Rachmaninoff Museum to Appear in Moscow
In spring 2010 a museum of the outstanding Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff will be opened in Moscow. The museum will be located in Bolshaya Ordynka Street, in a building, which is now being restored. The museum will display Rachmaninoff’s traveling music-rack and his grand piano that is often played by young musicians nowadays. The exposition will also introduce a collection of the composer’s photos sent from all over the world. In addition to that, one will find numerous documents that precise and complete his biography. In particular, the documents ascertain that during his life he transferred several million dollars to needy musicians in the USSR, and also sent parcels to the frontline for soldiers during the Great Patriotic War. The museum mansion will be also housing a music hall, a library, a record library and a research centre.
